Shaheen Shah Afridi took 300 Wickets in International Cricket

Shaheenshah Afridi, the dramatic fast-bowler of Pakistan, not just achieved a milestone in his glorious career but took 300 wickets in all forms of the game recently. He achieved this result in a T20 match against Ireland during a nail biting episode.

Scorring 300 wickets are an outstanding accomplishment for any cricketer. For the 22-year-old Afridi, it is a clear indication of his penetrative bowling amidst a wicket-taking capacity across all formats. Many of the greats had hundreds of matches under their belts before bagging the same number of centuries and Border’s record is a testament to this fact.

Shaheenshah bowling is a real nightmare for batting side batsmen. His quick bowling delivery, which can go at crazy speeds, makes him a “taker” of wickets. At ODI, T20s and a test cricket, he has taken more than 300 wickets – a sign of his ability in all forms of the game.

In particular, his Test recording is what he is most proud of. His feat of claiming 113 scalps in only 15 Tests at an average of 23 ranks him among an elite group of bowlers who have made their mark in Test matches. He has established himself as a genuine front-line quick bowler in Test Matches as well.

This latest achievement is the cherry on the top of the cake for Afridi who has emerged as a meteoric rise over the years. However, he is not yet short of years having bowled with the likes of other true bowling elite. Further he would veer on the path, he could be one of the greatest fast bowlers that Pakistan had ever produced. Currently, his 300 wickets represent a great personal and national achievement that is worth to be celebrated.
